Job Description

We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work within the DuPage County Department of Public Works as a Principal Wastewater Facilities Operator. For detailed information on paid time off, visit Employee Policy Manual , Section 5 Responsibilities include: Recommends hires and promotions, directs and evaluates employment decisions for all assigned positions Ensures the proper and efficient operation and maintenance of plants for which assigned Supervises the work of subordinate personnel engaged in plant operations and maintenance Operates, oils and adjusts machinery Trains personnel in the areas of laboratory analysis, operations and maintenance procedures Prepares all administrative reports and recordkeeping Follows directives given for emergency repair work Records tests on daily worksheets Ensures cleanliness and maintenance of buildings and equipment in accordance with environmental protection regulations Designs training programs for personnel Requirements include the following experience or equivalent combination of training and experience: Completion of a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma equivalent Four years experience in a water treatment plant, pumping station, or sewage treatment plant One year in a supervisory capacity Illinois Class I Wastewater Operators Certificate Valid Illinois driver's license. A post offer physical is required. A pre-employment background check is required.

Heavy Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Use of arm and /or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than for medium work.

The work environment for this position regularly includes working in varies outside weather conditions, near moving mechanical parts, with hazardous chemicals, and with fumes or airborne particles.
