Job Description

Operator in Training Contract to
Hire Location:
Liberal, KS Pay Rate:
$20.00 per hour
Benefits:
Standard Medical, Dental, 401(k) Responsibilities
  • Performs a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of a water/wastewater treatment plant on an assigned shift
  • This position typically holds a first level water/wastewater treatment certification (can obtain within 18 months of hire
  • Learn and gain skills involving maintenance of equipment and servicing work in plant
  • Operate treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water/wastewater, sludge, and effluent
  • Operate valves and gates either manually or by remote control, starts and stops pumps, engines and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment processes
  • Monitor gauges, meters, and control panels
  • Observe and report abnormalities to supervisor
  • Maintain shift log and record meter and gauge readings
  • Collect samples and performs routine laboratory tests and analyses
  • Perform routine maintenance functions and custodial duties
  • Works well with others and independently
  • Self-starter
  • Understands and carries out oral and written directions.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during work.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • May be requested to work different shift to fill in.
  • Will be required to get a class I wastewater certification within 18 months
  • Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED (will need for wastewater certification
  • Possess a valid driver's license with no major infractions
  • Basic understanding of computer software including Microsoft Office Suite and ability to enter data into a maintenance management system and Google sheets. Preferred Qualifications
