Water Distribution Technician II - Water Distribution City of Topeka - 3.4 Topeka, KS Job Details $21.81 an hour 1 day ago Benefits 401(a) Free parking Paid holidays Disability insurance Health insurance Dental insurance Employee assistance program Retirement plan Qualifications Entry level Under 1 year Full Job Description The City's Utilities department is seeking hard-working individuals to join the Water Distribution team as Water Distribution Technicians. This is a year-round, entry-level position that entails significant physical labor and working in inclement weather, including rain, snow and in muddy conditions. Duties include general maintenance and repair and replacement of water mains and pipelines. This position has an excellent field training program to assist incumbents in obtaining the skills needed for advancement. Trainees will receive training and assistance on company-paid time to obtain a Class A commercial driver's license (CDL), which is required by the conclusion of the six-month initial hire probationary period. Training, study time, and equipment are all provided by the City. What you'll do: Install, inspect, maintain, repair and manage water distribution system and water treatment facilities. Investigate and resolve matters dealing with customer complaints. Operate and maintain a variety of hand tools, power tools, and light to heavy construction equipment as needed.
Minimum qualifications:
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. Must possess and maintain a valid Class C Kansas drivers' license and city insurable driving record. Please review the Insurability Guidelines. Experience in the construction, maintenance and repair of water treatment plants and facilities or an equivalent combination of training and experience is preferred. Class A CDL required within six (6) months of hire date. Forklift Certification within one (1) year of hire date. First Aid/CPS/AED Certification within one (1) year of hire date.
Entry rate of pay:
