Job Description The Water and Wastewater Treatment Systems Operator will perform relevant and related services at the CMI customer site in Beltsville, MD. Key Job Functions Operate sewage treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment in wastewater (sewage) treatment plant to control flow and processing of sewage Monitor control panels and adjusts valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow of sewage Observe variations in operating conditions and interpret meter and gauge readings, and test results to determine load requirements Start and stop pumps, engines, and generators to control flow of raw sewage through filtering, settling, aeration, and sludge digestion processes Maintain log of operations and record meter readings Give directions to sewage-disposal workers in performing routine operations and maintenance Collect sewage samples using dipper or bottle and conduct laboratory tests using testing equipment, such as colorimeter Performs other related duties as required Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent Must have at least 3 years of experience in operating water and/or wastewater systems. Must be licensed as Maryland (MD) Water Treatment (class T) and/or MD Wastewater Treatment (Class W5); OR must have at least 3 years of experience of operating Water and/or Wastewater systems, and have a different license classi f ication from the State of MD and have the ability to acquire the required licenses within 6 months Class D1 Distribution System License is highly recommended and valued Must have thorough experience of the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) water systems operations, maintenance, and reporting requirements Must submit license(s) with resume Must be able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language Must be able to pass a government background check Additional Information
