Job Description
Job Summary This position performs a full range of monitoring, maintenance, operations and repair work on the Town's wastewater treatment system and facilities; maintains a variety of records and reports related to wastewater system operations; responsible for laboratory analysis and preventive maintenance of equipment and grounds, monitors effluent quality, sludge and compost handling and storage ;and performs related work as assigned Duties
- Operates the assigned wastewater facility, equipment and systems.
- Provides training and technical guidance to other operators, engineers, and regulatory agencies.
- Performs all necessary daily control tests to maintain standards set by the State and ensures that other operators perform tests accurately and in a timely fashion;
- Maintains necessary records, including wastewater effluent quality testing, permitsampling , operational data, plant operations, and inventory control;
- Conducts a variety of laboratory analyses including effluent quality testing , microbiological evaluations , permit sampling, chemical and biological observations, temperature andoxygen evaluations; testing for compost process, sludge removal and handling , etc.
- Operates heavy equipment such as a loader, etc.
- Maintains and updates record keeping and performs data entry regarding equipment repairs, maintenance, and discharge monitoring data.
- Coordinates routine visits with State inspectors .
- Inspects, cleans, and performs preventive maintenance or repair on plant equipment and facilities.
- Maintains a variety of records and reports related to wastewater system operations.
- Ensures all activities are carried out in a safe manner; adheres to all safety regulations; ensures all regulations pertaining to the safe use of equipment are understood and followed.
- Reports all accidents to the appropriate authority. Follows all policies for reporting.
- Other duties as assigned.
