The Technician's primary responsibility is to operate pumping stations and the water treatment facility. This is a full-time, hourly position that reports to the Water Treatment Supervisor.

Key Job Responsibilities & Duties:

• Operates pumping stations & water treatment facility: start/stop water pump, vacuum pumps, and traveling screen
• Performs inspections on water treatment equipment and associated components
• Performs routine and preventive maintenance on operating equipment, including minor equipment repairs
• Operates centrifuges. Routinely performs sludge removal and sludge density tests.
• Calibrates and cleans dissolved oxygen and pH probes
• Inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, changes oil and lubricates valves
• Replaces small valves and adjusts packing on pumps and valves as required
• Changes poly sacks and treats water with proper chemicals (lime, ferric chloride, sulfuric acid, caustic, and polymers) and adjust chemical feed rates.
• Operates forklift to unload chemicals, mechanical parts, and other supplies
• Completes daily log sheets/charts on operating equipment and events.
• Maintains storage areas and inventories
• Works with other Tradepoint employees on projects related to large repair jobs, operations, and business growth strategies
• Performs indoor and outdoor custodial duties (mops control room floor, cleans restroom, removes snow, weed control, department vehicle cleaning, tire changing, checking fluid levels, gas pumping) as needed.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required and provided by employer.

Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required:

High school diploma (or equivalent) and a minimum of one year experience with operating pumps and/or chemical system equipment Ideally, the selected candidate will hold some level of Maryland WWTP certification or possess the ability to become certified - Class 6 Industrial Water Treatment Certification. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, write simple correspondence, and communicate with others. Basic math skills Ability to read simple schematics Valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record authorization Availability to work rotating 8-hour shift between dayshift, nightshift, and weekends.

Physical Requirements:

• Must meet "fit for duty" requirements upon job offer (pre-employment physical and drug test).
• Ability to demonstrate normal color perception, hear audible alarms and detect abnormal equipment sounds
• Must meet physical requirements including but not limited to, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing up and down ladders and stairs, negotiating uneven and moving surfaces/equipment.
• Occasional outside work with exposure to all weather conditions (rain, ice, snow, wind, heat, etc.)
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work at elevated heights Benefits Package includes:

Hourly Rate:

$30.00 - $35.00/hr., based on experience.
