Job Summary This position has responsibility for the successful operation, maintenance, and supervision of the water distribution plant and wastewater treatment plant, and requires state certifications for both wastewater & water. Responsibilities Perform all aspects of sampling, monitoring and testing required to maintain compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations governing the wastewater treatment process and management Operates sewage treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment to control flow and processing of sewage Perform daily checks of the wastewater treatment process and periodic checks of pump stations Assist with the installation and inspection of new wastewater utilities Read and interpret meters and gauges that monitor the purification process and operation Operates and maintains water distribution system including servicing of pumps, motors, valves, generators, and equipment Analyzes and evaluates pump equipment, trouble-shooting malfunctions, and monitoring of water operations Responsible for daily inspections of all plant equipment and perform repairs of machinery and equipment as needed Collects and records data for record maintenance Performs facility grounds maintenance including cleaning equipment and tanks, cutting grass, and various other 'housekeeping' duties Performs other related duties as directed Job Qualifications Wastewater & Water Operator State Certification required High school diploma or GED Valid driver's license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Records required Experience within a water/wastewater treatment environment Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations Ability to work independently Strong attention to detail Must be available to work overtime and 'on-call' as needed
