Job Description
The Town of Canaan is seeking a motivated and dependable individual interested in building a career in water and wastewater treatment operations. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work for the Town while receiving on-the-job training and gaining the experience needed to obtain applicable New Hampshire water and/or wastewater treatment licenses. Under the direction of licensed personnel, the successful candidate will assist with the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of the Town's water and sewer facilities. Duties may include daily plant operations, system monitoring, sampling, recordkeeping, equipment maintenance, grounds and facility upkeep, and responding to operational issues as needed. Applicants should have a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn the technical and regulatory requirements of public water and wastewater systems. A valid driver's license is required. The selected candidate must be able to work weekends, evenings, and in adverse weather conditions when needed, and must be willing to pursue and obtain required water and/or wastewater treatment certifications within a reasonable period of employment.
