THE POSITION
Join the Department of Corrections (DOC) as a Corrections Wastewater Treatment Plant Foreman at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mercer and lead critical operations that keep the entire facility running safely and efficiently. This role places you in the driver's seat of complex treatment systems where your decisions matter every minute. You take charge of problem solving in real time, guiding an inmate work crew, and ensuring high performance across the plant. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position plays an important part in the daily operation and upkeep of the wastewater treatment plant at SCI Mercer. The work supports the efficiency, health, and stability of the entire plant system. As a Corrections Wastewater Treatment Plant Foreman, you will perform the following duties:
Plant Operations:
Maintain smooth and efficient operation of the treatment plant under normal and emergency conditions
Equipment Maintenance:
Operate and maintain plant machinery such as pumps, motors, filters, and other mechanical systems
Water Testing:
Perform testing of influent and effluent water and maintain logs and records
Work Crew Oversight:
Guide inmate workers, monitor movement, and maintain security procedures in work areas
Process Management:
Complete paperwork, order supplies, and make recommendations for equipment or process improvements Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 40 hours per week Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Your pass days will be determined during the hiring process. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant.
Special Requirements:
You must be in possession of a valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Systems Operators as a wastewater treatment plant operator that is equal to or higher than the Class E, Subclasses 1 and 4. You must be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.

Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
