- Role Summary
- This position is responsible for operating and maintaining the Texarkana Water Utilities Public Water System (PWS) located at the GPI-Texarkana Mill in compliance with state and federal drinking water regulations.
- Job Accountabilities
- + Uses standard work practices and standard operating procedures to perform daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual activities required to maintain the PWS in compliance with all regulations + Monitors treatment process in water plant control room and makes necessary adjustments as indicated by current conditions; makes process control decisions + Trend raw water intake, clarifiers, sand filters, Clearwell, granulated activated carbon filters, and all associated equipment including turbidimeters, pumps, and filters used for water treatment + Collects samples and completes chemical tests/analysis including residual chlorine, pH, temperature, alum dosage, color, clarifier flocculant and other testing required to monitor water treatment process; calculates and adjusts chemical dosages + Inspects valves, pumps, gauges, and other equipment on a scheduled basis + Prepares daily logs, inspection sheets, and examines and interprets trend charts; prepares daily reports of analysis and test results for mill and regulatory agencies; maintains records; enters data into computer.
- Required Qualifications
- + High School diploma or equivalent + A Class B Surface Water Treatment Plant Operator's license + Knowledge of mill safety policies and procedures + Proficient in basic computer use + Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, critical for sharing information with supervisor and between shifts + Strong attention to detail + Must pass drug test and background check + Must be legally authorized to work in the United States + Work rotating shift schedule.
