Water/Wastewater Service Worker

The City of Universal City is seeking a dependable and motivated Water/Wastewater Service Worker to assist with the maintenance and repair of the City's water distribution and sanitary sewer collection systems. Duties include repairing water and sewer lines, maintaining wastewater lift stations and water well plants, operating heavy equipment, restoring work areas, and responding to emergency utility issues.

Key Responsibilities:

Repair and maintain water mains, service lines, hydrants, and sewer systems Operate equipment including backhoes, dump trucks, sewer trucks, pumps, and jackhammers Maintain water wells, storage facilities, and wastewater lift stations Perform excavation, backfilling, and site restoration Conduct routine equipment inspections and maintenance Participate in rotating 24-hour on-call standby duties Promote safe work practices and provide excellent customer service

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required Experience in water/wastewater operations preferred but not required Valid Texas Class C Driver's License required Ability to obtain a Class D Water and Wastewater Collection License within one year Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work and work overtime as needed Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time benefits eligible position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with summer hours of 7:00 am - 4:00 pm, but this position's work schedule is subject to change depending on the needs of the department and the City. Evening and weekend work are also required as needed. Overtime is required upon demand. Must be available for rotating 24 hour, 7 days per week standby duty. Travel An employee in this position is required to drive a vehicle to various meetings, functions, events and to travel out of town to represent the City at meetings and conferences and for training. Pre-Employment Testing If a conditional offer of employment is received, employment is contingent upon receiving satisfactory results from the required pre-employment physical exam, drug/alcohol test, and background inquiries.
