Summary As a Wastewater Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible plant operations. In this hands-on role, you'll help operate, monitor, and maintain wastewater treatment systems to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company standards. Working closely with the Environmental team, you'll contribute to the reliable operation of critical equipment while helping protect natural resources and support the success of our facility. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in maintaining high environmental and safety standards, and wants to make a meaningful impact every day. Compensation This position has a target wage of $24.50 - $37.00 per hour, based on shift, experience and qualifications with annual bonus available (variable depending on performance). Overtime may be available. Shift:
Monday through Friday, 7:30am - 7:30pm. Weekends/Saturdays as business needs dictate. Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities Operate and maintain wastewater treatment equipment. Maintain a valid driver's license and drive a company vehicle to collect samples from off-site locations. Climb ladders and stairs from 20 to 40 feet when required. Obtain company certification to operate a forklift. Physically clean wastewater tanks using a squeegee. Perform cleaning activities as required to maintain safety and housekeeping standards around tanks, pumps, buildings, and lagoons. Work in organic sludges as required. Operate the sludge belt press. Handle acids, caustics, and polymers when required. Follow applicable safety procedures, training requirements, and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) guidelines when handling chemicals. Minimum Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent. 3 years of prior related experience. Strong reading, writing, math, and analytical skills. Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) Wastewater Operator License Class 2 or higher. Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors Work outdoors and be exposed to varying weather conditions. Work with organic sludges, strong acids, and bases. Lift up to 100 pounds.
