Louisa County Water Authority has an immediate opening for a Full-Time Water Treatment Plant Operator. The Operator must have a proven working knowledge of the processes and demands placed upon public water systems. Our primary 1 million gallon per day plant provides our operators with a diverse range of tasks and work experience. Additional operational responsibilities include the operation and maintenance of two groundwater systems, including greensand filtration, disinfection, and corrosion control. The preferred candidate will have a Class 1 or 2 Waterworks Operator License issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia and a minimum of three
- five years' work experience in the water treatment business.
A candidate with a Class 3 license will be considered; however, the candidate must commit to obtaining their Class 2 license within 6 months of hire.
Compensation and Benefits:
Water Treatment Plant Operator, Class 3
- $48,000
- $52,600 (must acquire Class 2 License within 6 months of hire date) Water Treatment Plant Operator, Class 2
- $50,800
- $71,700 Water Treatment Plant Operator, Class 1
- $60,200
- $79,000 Pay is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum requirements:
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age Have a valid driver's license Have a high school diploma or the equivalent. An associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field such as physical, environmental, or chemical science, is preferred. Prior water treatment experience General computer knowledge Communication skills, both verbal and written.
This position requires the following:
Working both indoors and outdoors, and potentially in inclement weather conditions. Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds. Have reliable transportation. Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include holidays, weekends, and on-call rotations. Potential to be assigned to multiple plants for cross-training opportunities. This position is considered essential personnel.

Louisa County Water Authority has been proudly serving the community since its incorporation in 1968. Our goal is to provide top-quality drinking water to every tap in our system around the clock and to exceed all regulatory mandates when returning effluent back to the environment. The Authority operates one water treatment plant, four well systems, one raw water system, and three wastewater treatment plants. We are continuing to expand and grow with an additional water treatment plant slated to come online in the near future. Louisa County Water Authority is a rural public utility ideally located in the rolling Central Piedmont region near the heart of Virginia. Richmond, Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, and the Lake Anna area are all an easy drive from the Town of Louisa. The county encompasses 514 square miles which are predominantly farm and forest lands, mixed with business, industrial, and residential properties.
