Job Description

Job Summary The Welder is responsible for fabricating and welding metal components and assemblies according to Fontaine specifications. This role ensures products meet quality, safety, and production standards while supporting efficient manufacturing operations. Key Responsibilities Perform MIG welding (and other processes as required) on steel and aluminum components Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and work instructions Set up welding equipment and adjust settings to meet welding specifications Inspect welds for quality, strength, and conformance to standards Grind, clean, and finish welded parts as required Repair weld defects and perform rework when necessary Follow all safety procedures related to welding equipment, materials, and PPE Maintain a clean and organized work area Complete production and quality documentation accurately Work with supervisors, inspectors, and other production team members to meet daily goals
Qualifications Required:
High school diploma or equivalent Previous welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment Ability to read blueprints and welding symbols Familiarity with basic measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, gauges) Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced, industrial environment
Preferred:
MIG welding certification or welding school training Experience welding heavy equipment, truck components, or structural steel Knowledge of OSHA and shop safety standards Skills & Competencies Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity Ability to work independently or as part of a team Time management and reliability Safety-focused mindset Working Conditions Manufacturing/industrial environment Exposure to heat, sparks, noise, and welding fumes Use of protective equipment required at all times Overtime may be required based on production demands Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Haleyville, AL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.40 - $27.40/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
