Welder Job Description This role involves performing high-quality welding and fitting work on pulleys, conveyors, and fabricated components in a manufacturing environment. You will use engineered drawings, tape measures, and welding equipment to produce precise, structurally sound assemblies that meet production and safety standards. Responsibilities Perform MIG and/or Flux Core welding on pulleys, conveyors, and other fabricated components in a shop or manufacturing setting. Fit, tack, and assemble parts according to engineered drawings and blueprints to ensure accurate alignment and proper fit-up. Use a tape measure accurately to within 1/16 of an inch to lay out, measure, and verify dimensions of materials and completed assemblies. Interpret and follow blueprints and engineered drawings to determine weld locations, joint details, and fabrication requirements. Conduct basic fabrication tasks such as cutting, positioning, and securing metal components prior to welding. Inspect welds and assemblies for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications, making adjustments as needed. Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are used and stored safely. Follow all safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and safe handling of materials. Work efficiently in a production environment to meet daily schedules and support overall manufacturing output. Lift and move materials up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods while performing welding and fabrication tasks. Support occasional Saturday work as needed to meet production demands. Essential Skills At least 2 years of welding experience in a shop or manufacturing environment. Proficiency with MIG welding and/or Flux Core welding processes. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineered drawings (preferred). Ability to accurately use a tape measure to within 1/16 of an inch. Experience with fitting, tack welding, and basic metal fabrication. Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment. Capability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods. Strong attention to detail to ensure precise measurements and high-quality welds. Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a safe work area. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience welding and fitting on pulleys, conveyors, or similar mechanical assemblies. Manufacturing or industrial fabrication environments. Familiarity with using standard shop tools and equipment for fabrication and fitting. Ability to work occasional Saturdays to support production needs. Work Environment This position is based in a manufacturing facility focused on production welding and fabrication. You work primarily on the day shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday shifts as needed. The environment involves standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working around industrial equipment and machinery. You use MIG and/or Flux Core welding equipment, standard fabrication tools, tape measures, and blueprints to complete daily tasks. Appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment are required to ensure safety and comfort in a production setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pell City, AL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $27.00/hr.
