We are looking for a skilled and experienced Welder II to join our growing team. Job Overview:
What You'll Do As a Welder II, you will perform advanced welding and fabrication activities using GTAW (TIG), SMAW, FCAW, and other approved welding processes. You will be responsible for producing high-quality welds that meet ASME code requirements and pass visual and non-destructive testing inspections. Rate $24/hr - $30/hr
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions/Responsibilities Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, weld symbols, specifications, and work instructions to properly lay out, fabricate, and weld components within allowable tolerances. Qualify and maintain proficiency in the 6G GTAW (TIG) welding position or approved dual-process qualifications. Set up, adjust, and operate welding equipment and tools safely and efficiently. Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions, including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead. Produce sound welds with minimal supervision and limited guidance on complex projects. Consistently produce welds that meet ASME code requirements and company quality standards. Maintain a minimum 75% radiographic testing (RT) passing rate and produce x-ray quality welds. Conduct visual and dimensional inspections to verify compliance with quality standards and specifications. Ensure proper welder identification is applied to all required welds. Select and utilize the correct filler metals based on engineering drawings, material specifications, and welding procedures. Demonstrate complete understanding and proper application of weld purging processes. Perform material preparation, fit-up, grinding, beveling, and other fabrication activities proficiently. Complete projects accurately and within established production schedules. Minimize rework through proper planning, workmanship, and adherence to procedures. Operate oxy-acetylene and plasma cutting equipment safely and effectively. Utilize tooling, fixtures, and fabrication equipment while maintaining safe work practices. Operate overhead cranes safely and efficiently for moving light loads. Mentor and assist less experienced welders by providing technical guidance, coaching, and support. Work overtime, including Saturdays, as required to meet production demands and support mentoring initiatives. Adhere to all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and safe work practices. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Skills & Competencies Strong welding and fabrication skills with consistent quality results. Thorough understanding of welding processes, filler metals, and metallurgy. Ability to interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical documentation. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain tight tolerances. Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to work independently with minimal direction. Demonstrated commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement. Ability to train and mentor less experienced welders. Supervisory Responsibility This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment This job operates in a warehouse environment. This role routinely utilizes the operation of material handling equipment and various tools and machinery. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift and work with various materials and/or tools, as well as work and bend at different heights, in various temperatures, and be on feet for an extended period of time. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Minimum of five (5) years of welding and fabrication experience. Experience using GTAW (TIG), SMAW, and FCAW welding processes. Experience using electrical and manual fabrication tools, including saws, squares, calipers, grinders, and measuring devices. Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and engineering drawings. Knowledge of applicable welding codes, standards, and safe work practices. AWS Welding Certification preferred. Experience in pressure vessel, piping, or ASME code welding environments preferred.
