Be an OWNER! Job Description The primary responsibility of the Fitter is to perform the layout and fitting of advanced or complete assemblies or fit over assemblies. The Fitter will have a hand in all aspects of the production of parts. Duties & Responsibilities Operation of forklift, crane, ironworker (including punch and dies), saw, plasma cutter, track torch. Shoot welds on studs to the correct parameters. Perform equipment maintenance of ironworkers, saws, and plasma cutters. Read and understand shop drawings. Perform fit checks. Perform advanced layout on radius assemblies. Perform advanced rigging. Read drawings for root sizes, bevels, miters, hole sizes, gages of holes, access holes for welds. Implement safety guidelines. Review jobs with foreman. Effectively communicate with various internal teams including but not limited to; other leads, Project Management Team, Shipping and Receiving. Perform advanced rigging. Maintain and clean and safe workspace. Ability to perform Shop Foreman's duties when needed. Other duties as required. Supervisory Responsibilities Responsible for leading 3-5 men production crews, overseeing multiple projects at a time. Train new skills to fitters for skill improvements. Education and/or Experience High school diploma (or equivalent) is a plus. 1-3 years working in structural and architectural steel welding.
