1st Shift Responsibilities of the Welder Set up and adjust welding equipment based on project specifications and material requirements. Review and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions to determine welding and fabrication requirements. Perform MIG and TIG welding on steel, aluminum, and Invar 36 components. Weld components to required specifications while maintaining proper fit, dimensions, appearance, and weld quality. Perform repairs and rework on damaged or defective components. Fabricate, modify, and repair fixtures, jigs, gauges, tooling, and custom components. Perform fabrication and fitting operations using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment. Measure parts and completed work using calipers, tape measures, and other precision measurement equipment. Work with team members to complete projects efficiently and maintain production schedules. May provide hands-on guidance and coordinate activities for a small group on specific projects while continuing to perform regular welding and fabrication duties. Maintain welding equipment, tools, fixtures, and work areas in proper working condition. Inspect completed work and identify quality or dimensional issues. Communicate production, quality, and technical issues to the appropriate lead or supervisor. Follow established safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned. Requirements of the Welder High school diploma or
GED. 3-5
years of welding and fabrication experience preferred. Welding certificate or technical school training preferred. MIG and TIG welding experience required. Experience welding steel, aluminum, and/or Invar 36 required or strongly preferred. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and manufacturing instructions. Ability to accurately use calipers, tape measures, and other measurement equipment. Knowledge of welding machines, fabrication equipment, hand tools, and power tools. Ability to produce accurate, high-quality welds while following specifications. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects or inconsistencies. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Must meet applicable U.S. work authorization and export-control requirements. Preferred Qualifications of the Welder Experience working with Invar 36 or other specialty metals. Experience fabricating fixtures, jigs, gauges, and custom tooling. Forklift and/or overhead crane experience or certification. Experience with both MIG and TIG welding processes. Experience performing precision fabrication and fitting. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to take ownership of assigned projects and help keep work moving efficiently. Comfortable providing hands-on guidance to less experienced team members. Willingness to work overtime or weekends when required. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Supervisory Responsibility No formal supervisory responsibility. May occasionally provide hands-on guidance and coordinate work for a small group on specific projects while continuing to perform hands-on welding and fabrication duties. Travel Local travel may occasionally be required. Some projects may require occasional out-of-area or overnight travel. Working Conditions Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment. May be exposed to welding fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical equipment, vibration, and elevated noise levels. May occasionally work around industrial chemicals and other manufacturing materials. Requires frequent standing and walking throughout the workday. May require bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and working in various positions. Overtime and weekend work may occasionally be required based on production demands. Appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn in designated manufacturing areas. Safety footwear and eye protection are required. Physical Demands Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods. Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as needed. Must be able to reach, handle tools, and perform detailed welding and fabrication work with hands and arms. Must have adequate close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift and move up to 35 pounds regularly and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Special Requirements Employment is contingent upon successfully passing required pre-employment screening, including reference checks, background checks, and drug screening. This position involves work subject to applicable export-control requirements. Candidates must meet applicable U.S. Person/work authorization requirements.
