Full-Time, Non-Exempt Reports to: Fabrication Shop Foreman Position Summary Spendrup Fan is seeking a skilled Fabrication Welder (Class 2) to join our production team. This role is responsible for most aspects of the fabrication process, from reviewing blueprints to the final assembly and welding of high-quality industrial fan components. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional who prioritizes safety and precision.
Key Responsibilities Fabrication & Welding:
Build and weld components into subassemblies and final assemblies using MIG and Stick welding, following blueprints or verbal instructions.
Blueprint Review:
Thoroughly analyze all drawings for completeness and technical requirements before beginning an assignment.
Inspections:
Perform regular equipment safety checks and conduct quality control inspections on finished parts to ensure they meet strict compliance and design standards.
Material Management:
Request necessary materials (plate steel, flat bar, expanded metal) and shop supplies to maintain workflow.
Leadership & Safety:
Train fabrication shop employees on tasks, equipment operation, and safety protocols. Help develop cost-saving ideas and improve fabrication designs.
Required Qualifications Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of welding experience or equivalent.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in reading blueprints and interpreting technical specifications.
Mathematical Proficiency:
Ability to perform calculations involving Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry .
Equipment Knowledge:
Skilled in using a variety of hand tools and fabrication machinery (Plate roll, punch press, iron worker, CNC burn table, and band saws).
Education:
High school diploma required; specialized training in welding or blueprint reading is highly preferred.
Physical Requirements & Environment Stamina:
Ability to stand for up to 8 hours a day in a factory setting.
Dexterity:
Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling for welding and quality examinations.
Strength:
Ability to occasionally lift up to 75 lbs . Tools of the
Trade:
Daily use of MIG/Stick welders, oxy-acetylene torches, plasma torches, hoists, and forklifts.
Safety:
Must strictly adhere to PPE requirements, including safety glasses, steel-toed boots, hardhats, and ear protection. Working Conditions Indoor factory environment with smooth, level concrete surfaces. Occasional overtime may be required based on production demand and workload.
