Job Title:
F18 Flight Ops - General Mechanic Job Description Join our dynamic team in performing maintenance operations on aircraft, aircraft equipment, engines, components, and systems. You will work in accordance with DOD, manufacturer, company, supplier, and other directives in support of aircraft modification. Your role may include Airframe & Powerplant repairs and Fuel Cell work. Responsibilities Remove, install, and rig flight controls. Perform inspections as a CDI or CDQAR Inspector. Conduct removal, installation, and functional checks of flight components. Turn qualified for high and low scenarios. Remove and install hydraulic components. Engage in depot disassembly and rebuilds. Utilize ground support equipment. Read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, and technical manuals. Use pneumatic tools, torque wrenches, and common hand tools efficiently. Replace panels, floorboards, insulation, and sealing compounds using mechanical fasteners. Document maintenance and repair actions, equipment status tags, logs, and parts requests accurately. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with team members and supervision. Comply with all health and safety rules, tool control, contracts, and facilities regulations. Perform duties on all shifts and order necessary parts, tools, materials, and equipment as needed. Essential Skills Proficiency in aircraft maintenance, depot level repair, and overhaul. Ability to read and interpret technical documents and manuals. Skillful in using pneumatic tools and torque wrenches. Experience in removing and replacing aircraft components and assemblies. Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to document maintenance actions accurately. Ability to perform duties with required safety equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with large aircraft components such as air-frame and power-plant. Experience working in open-bay, non-climate controlled environments. Capability to work on all shifts without encumbrances due to weather or physical location. Why Work Here? Work Environment Work in a military hangar with first shift from Monday to Friday, 5:30 am to 2:30 pm, and second shift from Monday to Friday, 2 pm to 10:30 pm. Be prepared to work in an open-bay, non-climate controlled environment and enjoy the benefit of expensing $100 per year for steel-toed shoes. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
