Job Summary The Welder at ESA will be responsible for reading fabrication drawings, performing precise measurements, welding, and assembling metal components to meet project specifications. The role requires proficiency welding, understanding welding symbols, and operating fabrication machinery. The Welder must have a keen eye for detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities Blueprint Reading :
Interpret and work from fabrication drawings (blueprints) to accurately fabricate and assemble metal components.
Measurement and Layout :
Use a 100ft and 30ft tape measure, framing square, and speed square to perform precise measurements and layouts for fabrication tasks.
Welding :
Perform flux core welding to join metal components, ensuring welds meet quality standards and project specifications. must pass a flux core welding test.
Weld Symbol Interpretation :
Understand and apply weld symbols as indicated on fabrication drawings to ensure proper welding techniques and specifications.
Component Assembly :
Assemble metal components according to blueprints, ensuring proper fit-up and alignment for structural integrity.
Machinery Operation :
Operate fabrication machinery, including but not limited to shears, presses, and cutting tools, to prepare and shape metal components.
Tool Maintenance :
Maintain and properly use required personal tools, including a 100ft tape measure, 30ft tape measure, beater hammer, framing square, speed square, chipping hammer, and welding hood.
Quality Control :
Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with blueprints, weld quality, and industry standards (e.g., AISC, AWS).
Safety Compliance :
Adhere to all safety protocols and wear provided personal protective equipment (PPE) to maintain a safe work environment.
Team Collaboration :
Work closely with other fabricators, welders, and project managers to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects.
Organization :
Clean and organize work area at the end of each shift.
Qualifications Experience :
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a welder in a related industry.
Skills :
Proficiency in reading and interpreting fabrication drawings (blueprints). Ability to pass a welding test. Strong understanding of weld symbols and welding techniques. Competence in using measuring tools (tape measure, framing square, speed square) for precise fabrication. Experience operating fabrication machinery, such as shears, presses, and cutting tools.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs.), stand for extended periods, and work in various positions (kneeling, bending, climbing).
Attributes :
Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on quality and safety. Work Environment Fabrication Shop-based in Jasper, FL, with occasional work at job sites as needed. Exposure to typical fabrication shop conditions, including noise, dust, and welding fumes. PPE (excluding required personal tools listed above) will be provided by ESA Fabrication, including safety glasses, gloves, and hard hats. Benefits Competitive hourly wage based on experience.
