Job Description

The Welder will be responsible for precision welding, assembly, and fabrication of aerospace structures per industry and customer specification and maintains compliance to customer and industry standards; maintaining quality and safety standards.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Works from Engineering prints, specifications, test procedures, schematics, travelers, and verbal instruction. Joining, fabricating, and repairing ferrous and non-ferrous metals using GTAW and FCAW per
AWS D1,1, AWS D1.2, AWS D1.3, AWS D
1.6, and
AWS D17.1
Familiar with welding types, call outs and classifications on drawings. Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces, adhering to applicable quality, engineering and GD&T standards. Performs dimensional and visual inspections of Fabrications as required. Reviews, understands, and completes all required documentation that accompanies work assignments (including travelers/data package). Possesses a dedicated work ethic to expedite all assigned tasks through the department within the guidelines of the Quality Policy and Quality Procedures. Maintains a clean, organized work environment through weekly and daily 5-S activities. Performs assigned jobs efficiently, with minimal errors and high-quality workmanship. Communicates defects, issues, and concerns with supervisor; seeks guidance/instruction as needed. Works individually or as a team; willing to cross-train as necessary. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Welding experience with GTAW and FCAW. Experience in an aerospace metal contract manufacturing environment.(preferably for US Government Prime contractors). Ability to read/interpret complex blueprints, layouts, drawings, and instructions. Must have, or acquire and maintain basic required tools to support departmental work assignments. Must be able to adapt to various working conditions. Microsoft Office applications. High School or GED Diploma required
Preferred:
Experience in welding and machining of complex, close tolerance aerospace components is a plus. Experience with AS9100 and
ISO 9001
are desirable. Knowledge of Geometric Tolerances, (ANSI-Y 14.5) drawing interpretation and shop math. Basic math and geometry skills. Vocational training is a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
Must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, all essential functions of the job. Must be able to communicate in the English language.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift 50lbs., moving between buildings with work orders, product, etc. multiple times a day.
