Aviation composite technician with commercial aircraft experience AOG Resources is seeking experienced Aviation Composite Technicians to perform high-precision repairs and overhauls on commercial aircraft components Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Composite Technician to join our component repair facility in Miami. This specialized bench role focuses on the high-precision inspection, teardown, repair, and overhaul of complex commercial aircraft structures.
Core Responsibilities Composite Repair:
Perform structural and cosmetic bench repairs on aircraft components using wet layup, pre-preg laminates, and vacuum bagging techniques.
Core & Delamination Repair:
Identify internal flaws, route out damaged honeycomb/foam cores, and install high-strength core replacements and skin doublers.
Thermal Curing Operations:
Setup and monitor controlled composite cures utilizing heat blankets, thermocouples, hot bonders, or facility curing ovens.
Teardown & Component Prep:
Disassemble incoming structural assemblies, remove paint/sealants, strip damaged plies safely without compromising underlying layers, and perform precision surface preparation.
Technical Manual Compliance:
Meticulously interpret and follow structural repair manuals (SRM), component maintenance manuals (CMM), engineering blueprints, and process specifications from major OEMs (Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, etc.).
Minimum Requirements:
Experience:
3+ years of MRO Composite experience
Technical Skillset:
Strong proficiency in mixing epoxy resins, handling structural adhesives, installing vacuum bags, checking for vacuum integrity, and setting up thermocouple zones.
Precision Tooling:
Skilled in utilizing pneumatic tools, air die grinders, routers, precision scales, and micrometers/calipers.
Language:
Ability to read and comprehend technical English data, including SRMs and complex engineering drawings.
Compliance:
Must be able to pass a pre-employment DOT/FAA drug screening and background check.
Preferred Experience:
Active FAA Airframe (A) or Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate is a distinct asset, though dedicated component bench specialists with extensive composite backgrounds will be highly considered. Specific experience with commercial widebody/narrowbody nacelles and thrust reversers.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Bench Work Focus:
Ability to stand and sit at a repair station workbench for extended periods executing high-precision manual tasks.
Manual Dexterity:
Superior hand-eye coordination for precision laying of fabrics and sanding/shaping tight contours.
Lifting:
Ability to lift, flip, and carry components weighing up to 50 pounds independently.
