Journeyman Welder SEC Contracting LLC Augusta, GA Job Details Full-time $27 - $30 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Press brake machine Mechanical blueprint interpretation TIG welding Mechanical drawings Construction plans ASME codes & standards Power tools Hand tools Full Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Welder to join our team, specializing in diverse welding and fabrication projects across construction and manufacturing sites. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in various welding techniques, blueprint reading, and mechanical knowledge to ensure high-quality craftsmanship and safety standards. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex projects requiring precision and expertise in a dynamic environment. Duties Perform MIG, TIG, FCAW, and welding on structural steel, sheet metal, ductwork, piping, and other materials following blueprints and schematics. Read and interpret detailed technical drawings, schematics, and ASME codes & standards to execute fabrication and assembly tasks accurately. Operate hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment to shape and assemble components. Conduct rigging, crane operation assistance, pipe threading, soldering, machining, and plasma cutting as needed for various projects. Use calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement tools to ensure parts meet specifications. Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols related to construction sites and manufacturing facilities. Collaborate with team members on assembly tasks, fabrication processes, and project completion while ensuring quality control. Assist with mechanical maintenance tasks including the use of basic math for measurements and calculations required for welding projects. Experience Proven construction site experience with a strong background in welding techniques such as
MIG, TIG, FCAW.
Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, schematics, and ASME codes & standards. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, plasma cutting equipment, press brake machines, and rigging operations. Experience working with sheet metal fabrication, ductwork installation, pipe threading, soldering, machining processes, and assembly work. Knowledge of mechanical systems including forklifts or other heavy machinery is a plus. Familiarity with blueprint reading for fabrication or construction projects is essential. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments while maintaining safety standards. This position requires candidates to bring technical expertise in welding and fabrication along with a strong commitment to safety and quality craftsmanship.
