Job Description

Job Overview:
The Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 166, in partnership with our signatory contractors, is currently seeking
EXPERIENCED
Pipe Welders in the Fort Wayne and surrounding counties.
Must be knowledgeable in:
  • SMAW welding, uphill progression in the 6G position
  • GTAW welding, uphill progression in the 6G position
  • GMAW-P welding, with modified root. Must be proficient in more process than just GMAW-P.
  • Reading isometric drawings
  • Assembling piping fabrications per isometric drawings
  • Have verifiable experience in the mechanical industry welding on pipe.
  • Ability to create Xray quality welds repeatedly.
Some of the duties include:
  • Welding piping fabrications utilizing multiple welding processes
  • Fabrication of piping assemblies for cooling & heating systems, food process, industrial manufacturing, refineries, power generation, chemical plants, pharmaceutical facilities, water treatment, hospitals, schools and other industries.
  • Follow ASME code to comply with industry requirements
  • Be able to pass a background check and a drug screen Union Benefits are

Graduates will earn a Department of Labor Journeyman's card and an Associate's Degree in Applied Science from IVY Tech at no cost (a value of $50,000 to $70,000 scholarship). Pay:
$23.56 - $47.11 per hour
