Job Title:
Welder - MIG Fabrication (Heavy-Duty Steel Components) Job Description This role focuses on MIG welding and steel fabrication for large, heavy-duty equipment components, including gas tanks and bumpers for mining trucks. You will interpret metric blueprints, perform high-quality structural welds on steel, and contribute to the fabrication of robust, safety-critical parts in a physically demanding production environment. Responsibilities Perform MIG welding on steel components to produce large gas tanks, bumpers, and other heavy-duty parts for mining trucks. Read and interpret metric blueprints to determine weld locations, dimensions, and fabrication requirements. Carry out steel fabrication tasks, including fitting, positioning, and assembling components prior to welding. Ensure welds meet structural, quality, and safety standards, including proper penetration, alignment, and appearance. Inspect workpieces and welds for defects and make necessary adjustments or repairs to maintain high quality. Use appropriate welding equipment, tools, and fixtures safely and efficiently throughout the fabrication process. Work on and around large steel structures, including climbing, crouching, and maneuvering in and around assemblies as needed. Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety protocols and using required personal protective equipment. Stand for extended periods and perform repetitive welding and fabrication tasks for the duration of the shift. Essential Skills At least 10 years of experience performing MIG welding. Proven experience MIG welding on mild steel in a fabrication or structural environment. Ability to read and interpret metric blueprints, not only standard/imperial drawings. Strong steel fabrication experience, including fitting and assembly prior to welding. Capability to work in physically demanding conditions, including standing for long periods, climbing, crouching, and moving around large structures. Ability to consistently produce high-quality, structurally sound welds that meet safety and quality standards. Use of required personal protective equipment, including steel-toe footwear and welding hood. Background focused on MIG and structural welding rather than primarily pipe welding or TIG welding. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience welding components for heavy-duty equipment such as cement trucks or similar large vehicles. Familiarity with fabrication of large tanks, bumpers, or comparable steel structures. Comfort working with jigs, fixtures, and fabrication tools in a production environment. Attention to detail and a strong commitment to workmanship and safety. Why Work Here? You will work in a setting where craftsmanship, safety, and structural integrity are highly valued, and your expertise directly contributes to the performance of heavy-duty equipment used in demanding environments. The role offers the opportunity to work on large, technically challenging steel fabrications, allowing you to apply and further develop advanced MIG welding skills. You will join a team-oriented environment that values reliability, strong work ethic, and pride in producing high-quality, durable components. Work Environment This position is based in a hands-on fabrication and welding shop focused on producing large steel gas tanks and bumpers for mining trucks. The work involves MIG welding on substantial steel structures and requires being on your feet for the entire shift, with frequent climbing, crouching, and maneuvering around large assemblies.
