Welder pay $26-$32 Job Description This role supports manufacturing and refurbishment operations by performing high-precision welding and fabrication work using a variety of hand welding equipment and processes. The Welder cleans turbo charger rotors and internal components, measures and evaluates parts for repair or replacement, fabricates turbo charger stands for shipment, and assists with balancing rotating assemblies. The position requires strong technical welding skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a production and overhaul environment. Responsibilities Use templates, jigs, blueprints, and other guides to repair, modify, and fabricate components and assemblies. Operate hand tools to cut, drill, bore, tap, ream, shape, and grind metal parts to precise specifications. Clean turbo charger rotors and internal components to prepare them for inspection, repair, or overhaul. Measure rotor components, nozzle rings, compressor wheels, and related parts to determine whether to repair or replace them. Fabricate turbo charger stands and related fixtures to support shipment and handling of components. Support the balancing of rotating assemblies by preparing, handling, and welding components as required. Manage heat input and metals during welding to prevent distortion or burns and to meet specified dimensions, tolerances, strength, and quality requirements. Set up, troubleshoot, and operate welding machines according to job specifications and welding procedures. Preheat and weld metal components in accordance with blueprints, welding symbols, job specifications, and approved welding procedures. Perform welds to a very high standard so they can pass radiographic, ultrasonic, magnetic particle, and other non-destructive testing procedures as required by engineering. Operate air arc gouging equipment, stress relieving equipment, and other industry tools and machinery safely and effectively. Inspect and repair substandard welds and perform welding repairs as needed to meet quality standards. Ensure all work is performed safely, using proper protective equipment and practices to avoid damage to tools, equipment, and components. Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle materials and equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Perform other related duties as assigned to support manufacturing, production, and overhaul operations. Essential Skills High school diploma or GED from an accredited school or institution. Minimum 3 years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment using MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques. Proficiency in TIG welding, MIG welding, and flux core welding for production and fabrication work. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and job specifications. Ability and willingness to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to lift up to 45 lbs. on a regular basis. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment where noise and dust are present. Ability to use required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes, and ear protection. Ability to perform frequent pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, bending, and other physical activities. Willingness and ability to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by workload. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in welding and fabrication of aluminum and stainless steel components. Experience in production welding and fabrication for manufacturing and overhaul operations. Experience overhauling and refreshing turbo chargers for industrial machinery. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members. Demonstrated leadership skills in a shop or production environment. Experience operating a forklift, hand truck, and other material handling equipment relevant to shop duties. Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and maintain productivity. Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining high quality and safety standards. Why Work Here? The combined locations employ a compact team split between a shop in Salina and a facility in McPherson, creating a collaborative and hands-on environment. You will work in a typical manufacturing setting where noise and dust are present and will regularly handle metal parts, welding equipment, and shop tools. The work involves physical activity, including frequent pushing, pulling, lifting up to 45 lbs., stretching, and bending. Standard personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and ear protection is required. Work hours may include overtime, nights, and weekends depending on workload, supporting a dynamic production and overhaul schedule.
