Job Description

Job Title:
Welder Job Description This role focuses on performing high-quality repair welding on metal parts that automated welding equipment did not fully complete. You will work in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment, supporting production by ensuring all parts meet quality and production standards through precise MIG welding and related finishing tasks. Responsibilities Perform repair welds on parts that were missed or not fully completed by robotic welders, ensuring strong and clean welds. Use MIG welding equipment to complete repair welding tasks according to established quality and safety standards. Set up jigs and fixtures by making necessary adjustments to fixtures and equipment used in producing product. Operate welding and related equipment using efficient procedures to meet or exceed daily production targets. Use appropriate measuring tools to verify that parts meet required quality specifications and tolerances. Follow all verbal and written instructions related to the operation of dies, welding equipment, and any other assigned tasks. Perform fixture set-ups and operate special welding fixtures as required for different product runs. Carry out additional processes such as buffing, spot welding, loading jigs, packing, deburring, sorting, and reworking parts. Read and interpret blueprints to understand weld locations, part orientation, and quality expectations. Maintain accurate and complete production and quality records as required by plant procedures. Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of safety hazards throughout the shift. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve production or quality issues related to welds and fixtures. Adhere to all safety guidelines and standard operating procedures while working with welding equipment and tools. Essential Skills Proven MIG welding experience, including the ability to pass a weld test prior to starting. Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment. Prior hands-on welding experience, which may include farming, manufacturing, or similar settings. Ability to perform repair welding rather than fabrication welding, focusing on correcting and completing existing welds. Ability to set up and adjust jigs and fixtures for production welding operations. Comfort operating welding and related production equipment to meet production standards. Basic blueprint reading skills to identify weld locations and specifications. Strong attention to detail to ensure weld quality and adherence to specifications. Reliable attendance and the ability to show up on time consistently. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately. Capability to maintain required production pace while sustaining high quality. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with machine loading is a plus. Familiarity with buffing, spot welding, deburring, sorting, and reworking metal parts. Ability to maintain organized documentation and production records. Comfort working with measuring tools to verify part quality. Strong work ethic and willingness to assist with additional production tasks such as packing and loading jigs. Why Work Here? The environment is production-focused, with clear quality and output goals, and emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety procedures while performing welding and related tasks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Shelbyville, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
