Amrize, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Night Shift Welder to support our plant operations in Accokeek, Maryland. This position is responsible for repairing and maintaining equipment such as crushers, conveyors, hoppers, and heavy machinery to ensure safe and efficient operation. They must follow all safety procedures, inspect equipment for wear or damage, and perform quality welds that minimize downtime and support reliable production.WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
- Perform welding and fabrication repairs on crushers, conveyors, screens, hoppers, and other aggregate processing equipment.
- Inspect equipment for cracks, wear, and damage, and recommend necessary repairs.
- Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and repair drawings.
- Operate welding and cutting equipment, including stick, MIG, TIG, and oxy-fuel torches.
- Repair or replace worn and damaged metal components to minimize equipment downtime.
- Follow all company safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform preventative maintenance on plant equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Use hand tools, power tools, grinders, and lifting equipment safely and effectively.
- Help install new equipment and replace worn-out parts.
- Assist other maintenance team members with repairs as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while completing repairs. Work closely with maintenance personnel and plant operators to complete repairs efficiently and support continuous production.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Education:
High school diploma or GED required; vocational welding training and AWS welding certification are preferred.Field of Study Preferred:
Welding Technology, Welding and Fabrication, Metal Fabrication, or a related skilled trades program.Required Work Experience:
Minimum of 2-3 years of welding experience in an aggregate plant, quarry, mining, construction, or other heavy industrial maintenance environment, with experience repairing heavy equipment and structural components preferred.- Previous welding experience in a quarry, aggregate plant, mining, or heavy industrial environment.
- Proficiency with stick (SMAW), MIG (GMAW), and oxy-fuel cutting; TIG is a plus.
- Experience repairing heavy equipment such as crushers, conveyors, screens, hoppers, and loaders.
- Ability to read blueprints, welding symbols, and repair drawings.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance and equipment repair.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and PPE requirements.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
- Experience using grinders, torches, plasma cutters, and other fabrication tools.
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
- Reliable attendance, strong work ethic, and willingness to work overtime or on-call when needed.
- Valid driver's license and welding certifications (AWS or equivalent) are preferred but not always required.

- Successful candidates must ad to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators.
