Job Description:
Francis O Day Co., Inc. a leading paving and excavation company that operates in Maryland and Virginia, is seeking an experienced Welder with a minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience to join our team. The role involves welding, reading blueprints, fabricating metal components, assembling parts, and performing routine lubrication and maintenance on equipment. Candidates should have strong mechanical skills, and the ability to work safely and independently. This position requires strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work in a safe and efficient manner. Responsibilities Perform MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding on various metal components. Fabricate parts and assemblies from blueprints, drawings, and specifications. Cut, shape, fit, and assemble metal materials using hand and power tools. Inspect completed welds and fabricated products for quality and accuracy. Perform routine lubrication and maintenance of equipment and machinery. Troubleshoot fabrication and welding issues as needed. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards. Qualifications Minimum 7 years of welding and fabrication experience. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. Experience operating fabrication equipment, including grinders, saws, drills, and cutting tools. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a physically demanding environment. Welding certifications are a plus but not required.
Physical Demands:
Frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands to signal and handle equipment. Occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders. Must occasionally lift and/or move anywhere up to 50-75 lbs. Ability to quickly respond appropriately to unexpected events. May require long periods of standing and being subjected to adverse weather conditions. Consistently wear common protective or safety equipment.
Work Environment:
Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery. Occasional night shifts
