Job Title:
Joist Shop Laborer Job Description Join our team as a Joist Shop Laborer where you will play a vital role in operating welding machines and ensuring the assembly of joists. You will work in an engaging, team-oriented environment with opportunities for growth and skill development. Responsibilities Operate welding machines and monitor their performance to ensure correct operation. Collaborate with team members on an assembly line to efficiently produce joists. Read schematics to accurately assemble joists. Learn machinery operations and participate in welding classes for skill enhancement. Potentially operate laser machines and other machinery as required. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area. Handle materials and perform touch-up painting as needed. Essential Skills Basic welding skills (MIG, TIG, or Stick welding experience is advantageous). Ability to read and interpret schematics. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in trades or vocational schooling is preferred. Comfortable working in a heavy industrial atmosphere. Willingness to undergo safety training. Reliability and strong attendance record. Work Environment Work in a manufacturing plant where structural steel is fabricated for bridge work. The environment can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter, with typical conditions of a heavy industrial atmosphere. Mandatory shifts include 2nd shift hours Monday-Friday and Saturdays, with differential pay for certain shift Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Point of Rocks, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.17 - $24.17/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
