Welder Gonzalez Group - 3.8 Detroit, MI Job Details $20 - $23 an hour 12 hours ago Qualifications Technical Proficiency Full Job Description Job Summary A Fabrication Shop Welder is responsible for welding and repairing metal components used in structural, industrial, or custom‑fabricated products. This role focuses on producing high‑quality welds using processes such as MIG, TIG, Stick, or Flux‑Core, depending on project requirements. Welders work from blueprints, fabrication drawings, and verbal instructions to build components accurately and safely. In the shop environment, the welder collaborates closely with fitters, fabricators, and supervisors to ensure projects meet specifications, tolerances, and quality standards. The position requires strong technical skill, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced fabrication setting. Essential Job Functions Welding and joining metal parts according to specifications Welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux‑Core), weld quality, heat control Perform welds on prepared joints Inspect weld quality Follow WPS (Weld Procedure Specs) Repair or reweld as needed Welds in certified position Knowledge of welding machines, torches, grinders, weld gauges Welds structural material such as grates, plates, tanks, etc. Occasionally welding uncommon structural metals under close tolerances of heat application and workmanship Straighten materials by heat or flame.
