Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced MIG Fabrication Welder to safely layout, fit, and weld components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and workmanship standards. This role involves welding in multiple positions, interpreting metric drawings with GD&T, and supporting fabrication and production operations to meet demanding schedules. The ideal candidate brings strong welding skills, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative manufacturing team.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform layout, fit-up, and MIG welding operations according to company standards and AWS requirements Interpret engineering and fabrication drawings, including metric measurements and GD&T Set up fixtures, tack, and weld components using welding guns, cutting torches, carbon arc, and related fabrication tools Utilize grinding, flame cutting, and arc gouging equipment as needed Coordinate and prioritize work to meet daily production schedules Support material movement between fabrication and paint areas Maintain accurate electronic and manual documentation for labor hours, work orders, and production records Operate robotic welding equipment, including completing safety checks and basic inspections (torch, harness, straightness, etc.) Identify, document, and communicate fabrication issues; recommend corrective actions and improvements Work effectively in a team environment with limited supervision Perform additional fabrication or production-related tasks as assigned
Requirements:
Prior MIG welding experience or completion (or in-progress completion) of a certified welding trade school or technical program Ability to read and interpret fabrication blueprints and engineering drawings Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality standards
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with heavy equipment or crane manufacturing Familiarity with fabrication hand tools (grinders, chisels, tip cleaners, etc.) Experience using cutting torches and/or carbon arc gouging Working knowledge of GD&T Ability to read standard work instructions and contribute to continuous improvement documentation Comfortable using computers for production transactions and documentation Understanding of metric measurement systems
Physical Requirements:
Regular exposure to welding fumes and industrial noise levels (85 dB or greater) Ability to operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, and hoists Frequent lifting up to 35 lbs Ability to work at various heights and climb equipment, ladders, and lifts Stand for 8-hour shifts with minimal breaks Work in environments with fluctuating temperatures Exposure to magnets that may impact medical devices Ability to kneel, squat, crawl, and work in tight or awkward positions Frequent repetitive motions including grasping, pushing, pulling, and rotating Use of fine motor skills and a variety of hand and power tools
Required PPE:
Hearing protection, safety glasses, steel-toed/metatarsal footwear, and full welding protective gear including jackets, chaps, helmet, and grinding shields.
