Job Title:
TIG Welder Job Description This role focuses on precision TIG welding of stainless and carbon steel components used in radiator assemblies. You will interpret work orders and blueprints, prepare and weld thin materials with tight tolerances, and ensure all welds meet strict quality and leak-free standards in a clean, modern manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Interpret work orders, blueprints, and schematics to assemble parts according to exact specifications. Mark weld points and component positions on workpieces using rules, squares, templates, or scribes. Select, position, align, and bolt jigs, holding fixtures, guides, or stops onto machines using measuring instruments and hand tools. Perform TIG welding on stainless and carbon steel materials ranging from approximately 1/16 inch to 1/2 inch thickness. Connect radiator tubing by welding small U-shaped tubes, ensuring precise, leak-free welds on light-gauge materials. Work with small parts and very thin metals (down to approximately 0.35) while maintaining high accuracy and consistency. Execute welds in challenging positions, including standing over the top of welds and working in partial blind-spot conditions. Perform the majority of welds while seated, adjusting welding tables to appropriate heights for comfort and accuracy. Prepare surfaces and workpieces using grinders, cutters, drills, and other hand-operated equipment to ensure proper weld quality. Remove completed workpieces or parts from machinery using appropriate hand tools and handling methods. Identify defective or non-compliant welds and perform necessary repairs or rework to meet quality standards. Follow all company policies and procedures, including safety, quality, and housekeeping standards in the manufacturing environment. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure production goals, quality requirements, and timelines are consistently met. Essential Skills At least 1 year of TIG welding experience on stainless steel at a single employer. Proficiency in light-gauge TIG welding with small tolerances on stainless steel. Ability to weld thin metals down to approximately 0.35 thickness without compromising quality. Hands-on experience working with small parts and intricate weld joints. Ability to TIG weld stainless and carbon steel between approximately 1/16 inch and 1/2 inch. Strong blueprint and schematic reading skills to interpret specifications accurately. Demonstrated ability to produce leak-free welds on radiator tubing and similar assemblies. Competence using welding-related hand tools, measuring instruments, grinders, cutters, and drills. Ability to weld in challenging positions, including working over the top of welds and with limited visibility. Commitment to following safety protocols, quality standards, and production procedures in a manufacturing setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Technical schooling or formal training in welding is highly preferred. Ideally 3-4 years of welding experience to supplement formal schooling or training. Experience with stainless steel welding and mechanical assembly work. Familiarity with MIG welding is beneficial. Comfort working from jigs, fixtures, and guides in a production environment. Strong attention to detail and steady hand for precision welding on small components. Ability to sit for extended periods while performing repetitive welds with consistent quality. Why Work Here? The company fosters a strong sense of unity and collaboration, reinforced through regular events and company outings. Team members enjoy a supportive culture that recognizes hard work with activities such as holiday parties and company picnics.
