Job Description

Job Title:
Welder Job Description This role focuses on welding and assembling components on refurbished refuse trucks and cement mixers. You will set up welding equipment, perform various welding techniques, and help restore used trucks to a high standard of safety and appearance in a hands-on manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Set up welding equipment and ensure all welder settings are correct for each job. Perform spot, tack, and MIG welding on refurbished refuse (garbage) trucks and cement mixers. Assemble components and parts on trucks and mixers according to specifications. Carry out basic fabrication and body work as needed to restore used and older trucks. Use hand tools and power tools to grind, clean, and prepare surfaces for welding and assembly. Wash, clean, and wipe down parts and work areas to maintain a safe and organized workspace. Perform general labor tasks in support of production and manufacturing activities. Work effectively as part of a small project team to complete builds and repairs on schedule. Follow safety procedures, including the proper use of eye and ear protection and other required PPE. Inspect completed welds and assemblies for quality, making adjustments or repairs as needed. Essential Skills At least 6 months of welding experience, or a post-secondary welding certificate, or completion of at least a one-month specific welding program. Ability to perform MIG welding, including spot and tack welding, on steel components. At least 6 months of experience using basic hand tools and power tools in a production, manufacturing, or similar environment. Ability to stand and perform physically active work for 10-hour shifts. Experience with basic fabrication and assembly tasks. Ability to follow technical instructions and work from job requirements or guidelines. Strong attention to detail to ensure clean, accurate welds and proper assembly. Commitment to working safely and using required personal protective equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a manufacturing or production environment. Background in auto body or body work on vehicles or heavy equipment. Familiarity with grinding, cleaning, and surface preparation techniques. Ability to work collaboratively in small project teams. Strong work ethic and reliability in meeting shift and production expectations. Why Work Here? The facility requires jeans and steel-toed boots, and eye and ear protection are provided and required at all times while performing work. You will work around active production equipment and vehicles in various stages of refurbishment, with an emphasis on safe, organized, and efficient operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dodge Center, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
