Job Description

Job Title:
Tig Welder Job Description This role focuses on TIG and MIG welding of aluminum, stainless steel, and some mild and galvanized steel in a custom manufacturing environment. You will work primarily on custom cabinets and structures used in data centers and city lighting, performing both welding and fabrication tasks in fixed vertical and horizontal positions. The position blends hands-on welding with fabrication, layout, and occasional assembly work, offering variety in daily tasks and exposure to different custom projects. Responsibilities Perform TIG and MIG welding on aluminum and stainless steel, with occasional work on mild and galvanized steel using provided respirators when needed. Execute custom welds in fixed vertical and horizontal positions according to job specifications and quality standards. Grind and finish your own welds to ensure clean, accurate, and visually appealing results. Carry out fabrication tasks such as bending, forming, and using a shear to prepare and shape materials. Read and interpret basic drawings and blueprints to understand project requirements and welding sequences. Layout, fit, and assemble components for custom cabinets and structures used in data centers and city lighting applications. Use measuring tools, including tape measures, to mark, cut, and align materials accurately. Support assembly operations as needed, including days where assembly work may take priority over welding. Adapt to varying production volumes, from small runs of a few pieces to larger runs of up to 200 similar products. Collaborate closely with a small team of welders and fabrication staff to meet project deadlines and maintain high quality standards. Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety procedures and using appropriate personal protective equipment. Participate in cross-training opportunities to expand skills across welding, fabrication, and assembly tasks. Essential Skills At least 3 years of experience performing TIG and MIG welding. Proven experience welding on aluminum and stainless steel in a fabrication or manufacturing environment. Ability to perform TIG and MIG welding in fixed vertical and horizontal positions. Competence in reading and interpreting basic drawings and blueprints. Ability to layout, fabricate, and assemble components from raw material to finished product. Proficiency in using a tape measure and other basic measuring tools accurately. Comfort working beyond welding duties, including fabrication and assembly tasks as required. Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a small welding and fabrication team. Capability to perform grinding and finishing on own welds to meet quality standards. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a custom manufacturing environment with varying job sizes and product types. Experience in aluminum welding and stainless steel welding using both TIG and MIG processes. Familiarity with bending, forming, and shear operations in a fabrication setting. Ability to perform fitting work, including aligning and securing parts prior to welding. Comfort working in a non-production, project-based environment where workload and tasks may vary week to week. Willingness to be cross-trained across multiple skill sets, including welding, fabrication, and assembly. Why Work Here? You will join a small, family-owned company that values collaboration, cross-training, and long-term growth. The organization offers a 4% 401(k) company match, Blue Cross Blue Shield health benefits with 50% of the premium covered for single coverage, and six paid holidays annually.
