Position Summary The Welder is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing steel components used in foundation support and waterproofing systems. This role involves MIG welding, reading blueprints, working with jigs/fixtures, operating fabrication equipment, and maintaining a safe, clean working environment. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, a commitment to quality, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. Key Responsibilities Perform MIG welding on structural steel components according to SafeBasements' quality standards. Set up welding machines based on job specifications and material requirements. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders. Fabricate, assemble, and modify parts using cutting tools, grinders, and fabrication equipment. Use jigs, fixtures, and measuring tools to ensure consistent, accurate welds. Inspect completed welds for quality, weld penetration, and structural integrity. Maintain tools, equipment, and workstations, ensuring safety and cleanliness. Follow all OSHA, company, and shop safety protocols at all times. Assist with loading/unloading materials and moving finished products as needed. Collaborate with production leads to meet daily and weekly output goals. Identify equipment issues, defects, or material concerns and report them promptly.

QualificationsRequired:

1+ year of MIG welding experience (or technical school equivalent). Ability to read blueprints and fabrication drawings. Proficiency with grinders, saws, clamps, tape measures, and other shop tools. Experience welding mild steel. Strong attention to detail and quality. Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for long periods. Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.

Preferred:

Welding certification (AWS or similar). Experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. Ability to weld in various positions (flat, horizontal, vertical). Experience operating forklifts or overhead cranes. Physical Requirements Ability to work in a production shop environment (noise, heat, sparks). Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and moving materials. Ability to wear PPE including welding hood, gloves, steel-toe boots, and safety glasses.
