Job Description

Job Title:
Welder Job Description In this role, you will weld steel and metal components used in cranes, crane bases, and power and hand winches. You will work from prints and specifications, maintain quality standards, and contribute to building products that are reliable and durable. Responsibilities Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures. Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements. Connect cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, and wire feed speed as required. Start power supply to produce electric current. Strike (form) arc which generates heat to melt and deposit metal from electrode to work piece and join edges of work piece. Manually guide gun along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead. Weld in flat and horizontal positions. Examine weld for bead size and other specifications. Chip off excess weld and spatter. Position and clamp work pieces together or assemble them in a jig or fixture. Essential Skills Proficient in welding and blueprint reading. Experience with machine setup and quality inspection. Skill in MIG welding and fabrication. Additional Skills & Qualifications Demonstrate strong math aptitude, attention to detail, and sense of urgency. Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization abilities. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. Exhibit strong problem-solving, deductive reasoning, and decision-making skills. Ability to learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to pass the required drug screen.
Preferred:
Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Winona, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
