Position Key Welder Responsibilities:

 Fabricate small, medium, and large bore pipe of various metals and alloys (e.g. butt weld pipe, threaded pipe, and socket weld).  Reads and comprehends construction drawings and specifications.  Lays out and installs piping, equipment, and other mechanical systems in compliance with construction drawings and specifications.  Works in conjunction with other crews and lead persons.  Maintains responsibility for all tools and equipment assigned to the group.  Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.  Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.  Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements).  Operate grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded  Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces.  Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead).  Inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws  Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety

Qualifications:

 Minimum 3 years welding experience in power plants and refineries preferred.  Must have a working knowledge of various welding codes, specification, techniques, and methods.  Must be familiar with properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.  Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines.  Always attentive to detail and alert to ensure safety.  Ability to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers.

HEAVY WORK

STOOPING

CROUCHING

• Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in order to receive materials from ground level weighing up to 50 pounds as it is being passed and 35 pounds from overhead. Frequently

GRIPPING

• Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands to receive materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Picking, pinching, or otherwise working with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling. Frequently
