Lead Structural Welder Needed $28-$32 p/hr Wilmington, NC Job Description This position involves an 8-week project at a fiber plant in Wilmington, NC. The role focuses on installing duct work and piping systems as part of an upgrade to the plant. We are looking for a Lead Structural Welder capable of welding plates to pipes for hanger attachment. The job entails working 40 hours per week. Responsibilities Lead the welding of plates to pipes to facilitate the attachment of hangers. Perform both MIG and TIG welding on 18 gauge duct systems. Execute proficient stick welding in both horizontal and overhead positions with 3/8 plate. Carry out structural welds on a construction site, preferably for a mechanical contractor. Weld 18 gauge sheet metal systems using either MIG or TIG processes. Fabricate and assemble sheet metal components according to specifications. Essential Skills Proficiency in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW / Stick) with 6010, 7018, and related electrodes. Experience in welding structural steel components, including beams, columns, plates, and connections. Ability to weld in all positions: flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead (1G-4G / 1F-4F). Strong knowledge of multi-pass welds, groove welds, fillet welds, and full-penetration welds. Additional Skills & Qualifications Proficiency in MIG (GMAW) and/or TIG (GTAW) welding on thin gauge materials. Experience in welding sheet metal, stainless steel, aluminum, and light-gauge carbon steel. Ability to perform precision welds with minimal warping or distortion. Skill in tack welding, seam welding, and cosmetic/finish welds. Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, prints, and weld symbols. Experience with layout, cutting, forming, and fitting sheet metal components. Familiarity with press brakes, shears, rollers, and fabrication equipment. Why Work Here?
