Job Description

Position Summary:
The Welder is responsible for Mig, Tig and Stick types of welding.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Examine work pieces for defects, and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications. Fabricate, set up, and repair rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear, using hand and power tools. Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use. Operating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment - running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles. Controlling Machines and Processes - using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes (not including computers or vehicles) Read blueprints,understandshow to use a tape measure, level, square. Selectgearsuch as cables, pulleys, and winches, according to load weights and sizes, facilities, and work schedules. Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces, using chain falls, gin poles, gallows frames, and other equipment. Tilt, dip, and turn suspended loads to maneuver over, under, and/or around obstacles, using multi-point suspension techniques. Install ground rigging for yarding lines, attaching chokers to logs and then to the lines. Align, level, and anchor machinery. Manipulate rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear to move or support materials such as heavy equipment, ships, or theatrical sets. Fabricate, set up, and repair rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear, using hand and power tools. Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms, using bolts and clamps. Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Education): HS Diploma or GED equivalent Minimum three (3)yearswelding experience Minimum three (3)yearsconstruction industry experience Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment: hand, power and pneumatic tools. Welding certificationpreferred.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
This is very physical, hands-on work. A Welder must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving your whole body such as crawling, climbing, lifting, balancing, stooping, occasional walking and handling materials up to 50 pounds. Must have good hand eye coordination, able to stand for long periods of time, and have attention to fine detail. Willing and able to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment and/or outdoors in all types of weather, and over uneven ground or terrain.
