Job Description

As a Metal Fabricator, you will be responsible for reading and interpreting manufacturing blueprints, fabricating metal components to produce customized windows and doors, and performing quality reviews on finished products. The Metal Fabricator is required to set up fabricating machines and design custom templates according to specifications. This position reports to the Metal Production Supervisor. Essential functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
  • Repair and fabricate windows and doors using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment.
  • Precision cutting, grinding, and graining metal.
  • Precision TIG and MIG welding for Stainless Steel, Steel, and Aluminum.
  • Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged. by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage.
  • Prepare, assemble, and tack weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
  • Performs manual machining on production materials.
  • Ensures quality and uniform completion; resolves any identified problems and alerts supervisor.
  • Operates and maintains machines to precise cutting and shaping tasks by using the appropriate machine settings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to cross-training in other departments Competencies/Skills & Experience
  • Manual machining experience.
  • Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding including designs, uses, maintenance and repair.
  • Thorough understanding of machines and tools used to create precise measurements for cutting or shaping.
  • Ability to read technical drawings.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • Metric experience preferred.
  • Detail-oriented and consistent.
  • Works well as a productive member of a team.
  • Ability to properly maintain and perform basic repairs on equipment.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods standing and performing repetitive tasks.
  • Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
  • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more at times.
  • Proper use of PPE and a commitment to safety required.

  • Applicable postsecondary certification.
  • Valid driver's license required.
