Job Summary/Purpose:
The Welder is responsible for performing MIG welding operations to fabricate and assemble metal components used in cable tray systems. This includes reading blueprints, preparing materials, and executing high-quality welds that meet company and industry standards. The welder must be capable of setting up equipment, performing manual layout and prep work, and ensuring all weldments meet dimensional and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities/Duties:
  • Set up and operate MIG welding equipment using prescribed methods and procedures to weld parts within acceptable standards.
  • Build weldments through manual layout and manual surface preparation process when required.
  • Read and interpret welding blueprints, work orders and welding symbols.
  • Position parts to be joined using fixtures, clamps and other holding or positioning devices.
  • Use required measuring instruments and gauges to verify that parts meet dimensional and quality specifications.
  • Perform post-weld clean-up, including grinding, polishing and finishing.
  • Identify and correct welding defects or inconsistencies.
  • Maintain welding equipment and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs.
  • Set up straight section jigs as to width of tray and rung spacing.
  • Weld all basic types of ladder-type tray.
  • Set up welding guns for both steel, stainless steel and aluminum parts.
  • Maintain quality and production standards.
  • Communicate all malfunctions of equipment and errors.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Required Qualifications/Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Welding experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in MIG welding.
  • Demonstrate good MIG welds of aluminum.
  • Skilled in using hand tools, grinders, and precision measuring tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
Preferred Qualification:
  • Certification in welding or completion of a welding training program.
  • Experience in TIG welding is a plus.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
  • Exposure to noise, dust and metal particles.
  • Conditions may be hot or cold depending on season and machinery.
  • Ability to lift, bend and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Personal Protective Equipment is required based on area/machine/job.

$23.41 - $24.66 per hour
