Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Primary responsibility is producing X-ray quality welds in a production environment utilizing Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) precision machines on stainless steel, carbon steel and copper nickel material components. Other responsibilities are inspection of welds per weld acceptance criteria and specifications, performing various types of finishing operations per manufacturing drawings, specifications, or other forms of instruction.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Proficient in (GTAW) welding equipment and techniques, (ASME) or (AWS) certifications desirable. Capable of producing x-ray quality welds on a production basis. Capable of passing (ASME) or (NAVSEA) Weld Operator Performance Qualification tests. Capable of passing an eye examination (w/corrected lens if necessary). Capable of passing written and practical NDT/VT (Visual Inspection) examination. Capable of understanding welding procedures, codes and following instructions. Proficient at the interpretation of mechanical drawings including weld requirement symbology. Working knowledge of fixturing and welding machine setup including advanced welding parameters (i.e. GTAW pulse welding). Reads drawings, work orders and production schedules to determine manufacturing requirements. Proficient with conventional and precision measuring instruments. Capable of using hand tools for weld prep and finishing operations. Capable of meeting production welding targets. Documents work and production information as required by department. Visually inspects and checks finished work in accordance with prescribed weld quality practices. Conducts work and behavior in a manner representing the Lokring safety and housekeeping standards. Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition. Perform other duties as assigned.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent. General computer knowledge with MS Windows applications. Strong technical aptitude with good problem solving skills. Good oral and written communication skills. Technical weld training with certification desirable. One-year experience in GTAW or other forms of welding desirable.
