Day Shift Welder/Fitter Job Description This role focuses on structural welding and fitting of very large poles used for street lighting and traffic control. You will work with heavy material in a heavy manufacturing environment, performing high-quality welds and precise fitting while meeting safety and production standards on the day shift. Responsibilities Perform structural welding and fitting on very large poles used for street lighting and traffic control applications. Work with large structural components and heavy material in a heavy manufacturing environment. Use metalcore and flux core welding processes to complete welds according to specifications. Read and interpret blueprints to determine dimensions, layout, and weld requirements. Set up workpieces and fixtures to ensure accurate fit-up prior to welding. Complete welds that meet or exceed the requirements of the weld test: 1/2 inch flat plate, 1G position, 1/16 inch metalcore wire with bevel bar. Perform fitting tasks and pass a fitting test to demonstrate accuracy and quality. Inspect welds and fittings for quality, structural integrity, and adherence to specifications. Follow all safety procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment such as hard hats, weld hoods, and steel-toe footwear. Maintain a clean and organized work area and contribute to efficient production flow. Work the assigned day shift schedule and support overtime needs as required. Essential Skills At least 2 years of heavy industrial welding and fitting experience in a heavy manufacturing environment. Proven experience working with large structural components and large material. Proficiency with metalcore and flux core welding processes. Ability to pass a weld test on 1/2 inch flat plate in the 1G position using 1/16 inch metalcore wire with a bevel bar. Ability to pass a fitting test demonstrating accurate layout and fit-up. Strong structural welder/fitter skills with attention to quality and detail. Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately. Consistent work history with above-average tenure in previous welding/fitting roles. Commitment to safety and proper use of PPE, including hard hat, weld hood, and steel-toe footwear. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in heavy manufacturing environments producing large structural products. Comfort working with very large poles and heavy materials for infrastructure applications. Ability to work overtime when needed to support production demands. Strong problem-solving skills to address fit-up and welding challenges on large structures. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a heavy manufacturing facility focused on producing very large structural poles for street lighting and traffic control. The role is for the day shift, typically from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime available as needed. You will work around large materials and heavy equipment in an industrial setting that emphasizes safety and proper use of personal protective equipment. A hard hat is required on site and is provided, while you must supply your own weld hood and steel-toe footwear. The environment is hands-on, physically demanding, and suited to individuals comfortable working with large structures and industrial processes. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tulsa, OK. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.50 - $24.50/hr.
