Welder Job Description This role involves MIG welding and fabrication of components used in industrial grating systems, working with aluminum, steel, and other metals. You will read and interpret blueprints, perform basic fitting, and use a variety of fabrication tools in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Perform MIG welding on aluminum, steel, and other metal components for industrial grating systems. Carry out fabrication tasks, including cutting, fitting, and assembling metal parts according to blueprints and specifications. Read and interpret blueprints and, where applicable, weld symbols to ensure accurate layout and production. Use hand tools and power tools such as wrenches, tape measures, metal saws, and grinders to prepare and finish welded assemblies. Operate fabrication equipment, including press brakes and metal grinders, to form and shape components as required. Inspect welds and fabricated parts for quality, accuracy, and adherence to safety and production standards. Assist with general shop and warehouse duties, including material handling, setup, and cleanup to maintain an organized work area. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and resolve fabrication or fit-up issues. Essential Skills Proven MIG welding experience with aluminum, steel, and other metals. Hands-on fabrication experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and basic weld symbols. Proficiency using hand tools such as wrenches, tape measures, and other common shop tools. Experience operating power tools, including metal saws and grinders. Familiarity with industrial fabrication processes and working around heavy industrial equipment. Ability to perform basic fitting of metal components prior to welding. Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working in a metal fabrication shop. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with press brake operation for forming metal components. Experience in industrial fabrication of grating or similar metal products. Millwright, mechanic, or general mechanical experience in a manufacturing setting. Prior experience as a shop helper or in a heavy industrial labor role. Comfort working with a variety of metals and adapting to different fabrication tasks. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a metal grating manufacturing warehouse with a heavy industrial setting. You will work around fabrication equipment, welding stations, and metal processing tools, handling aluminum, steel, and other metals on a regular basis. The environment is hands-on and production-focused, requiring the use of hand tools, power tools, and industrial machinery throughout the shift. Appropriate industrial workwear and personal protective equipment are required to ensure safety while working with metal, welding equipment, and fabrication machinery. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
