Job Description

Job Title:
Welder Job Description This role involves performing ASME Code compliant welds using MIG (Pulse/Spray/RMD), TIG, and FCAW processes on pipe and plate materials. You will work with a variety of metals, interpret technical drawings and weld symbols, and support the fabrication of spiral heat exchangers while contributing to a small, collaborative weld shop. Responsibilities Perform ASME Code compliant welds using MIG (Pulse/Spray/RMD), TIG, and FCAW processes on pipe and plate materials. Carry out prep, fit-up, welding, and assembly of piping and plate materials ranging in thickness from 12 gauge (0.105") to 4". Fabricate spiral heat exchangers using carbon steel, stainless steel, and other alloys. Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and weld procedures to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly. Use a tape measure and apply basic math skills to lay out, fit, and verify dimensions of workpieces. Set up and operate welding machines, adjusting settings and parameters to meet job specifications and ASME Code requirements. Work with hand and power tools common to the welding trade, including grinders, torches, plasma cutters, mag drills, and welding positioners. Perform grinding, fitting, and fabrication tasks to prepare materials and complete weld assemblies. Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move materials, components, and finished products safely within the shop. Cross-train and assist in other areas and departments as needed, including stud welding, blasting, and assembly. Lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs as part of daily work activities. Essential Skills Proven experience performing ASME Code compliant welds using MIG (Pulse/Spray/RMD), TIG, and FCAW processes. Hands-on pipe and plate welding experience with a variety of materials and thicknesses. Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and weld procedures. Proficiency in using a tape measure and applying basic math skills for layout and measurement. Demonstrated ability to set up and operate welding machines for different processes and materials. Experience using hand and power tools common to the welding trade, including grinders, torches, plasma cutters, mag drills, and welding positioners. Experience working with carbon steel, stainless steel, and other alloy materials. Ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely in a shop environment. Physical ability to lift materials up to 50 lbs as required by daily tasks. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience fabricating spiral heat exchangers or similar complex welded assemblies. Grinding, fitting, and general fabrication work in a weld shop environment. Willingness to cross-train in stud welding, blasting, assembly, and other related operations. Comfort working with stainless steel and a range of alloy materials in addition to carbon steel. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Allentown, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $34.00/hr.
