Job Description
Welder NextGen Armor | Butler, PA Position Overview NextGen Armor is seeking an experienced Welder to fabricate and repair metal components and assemblies. This position requires strong blueprint-reading skills, consistent workmanship, and the ability to meet production requirements while following approved welding procedures and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, work instructions, and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS). Set up and operate welding equipment, adjusting parameters within the limits of the applicable WPS. Prepare, fit, and weld components, including cutting, grinding, cleaning, and joint preparation. Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum according to applicable drawings, procedures, and quality requirements. Inspect work for weld quality, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with specifications. Report defects or discrepancies to the Weld Lead. Perform weld repairs and heat straightening only with appropriate authorization and in accordance with approved procedures. Accurately record labor, production activity, and job completion in the ERP system while maintaining required part identification and documentation. Follow required safety practices, including proper protective equipment, safe cutting and heating procedures, and equipment startup and shutdown. Perform routine operator-level equipment care, maintain an organized work area, and assist with related production duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. At least five years of welding experience . Proficiency in GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), and SMAW (stick) welding. Ability to read blueprints and standard welding symbols, follow WPS requirements, and perform basic shop math. Experience welding carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, including material thicknesses up to 2 inches , as applicable to assigned work. Documented welder qualifications under AWS D1.1 and

, appropriate to the processes, materials, and welding positions required. Knowledge of safe oxy-fuel cutting and heating practices. Ability to pass a company-administered welding test and obtain and maintain the qualifications required for assigned work. Preferred Qualifications Possession of basic hand tools used in welding and fabrication.
