Job Description

MIG Welder Job Description This role focuses on high-output MIG welding to fabricate steel trailer components in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Entry level candidates are encouraged to apply. You will prepare materials, interpret blueprints, and perform precise welds on galvanized steel, carbon steel, and stainless steel while maintaining quality, safety, and productivity standards. Responsibilities Operate heavy-duty MIG welding equipment to fuse steel components for trailers quickly, accurately, and to specification. Prepare materials by measuring, cutting, and fitting base metal pieces prior to welding. Read and interpret engineering designs, blueprints, and welding symbols to ensure trailers are built to exact specifications. Use tape measures in both fractions and decimals to verify dimensions and ensure proper fit-up of components. Perform high-quality welds on galvanized steel, carbon steel, and stainless steel according to print requirements. Conduct quality checks on finished pieces to verify structural integrity and avoid material warping or defects. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift. Inspect welding gear, tools, and equipment before each shift to ensure they are operating effectively. Use grinding tools to clean, smooth, or prepare welds and surfaces as needed. Work independently to complete assigned work to print requirements while meeting production quotas. Collaborate with team members in a production environment to support continuous workflow and output. Essential Skills Proven MIG welding experience in a production or manufacturing environment. Ability to proficiently weld galvanized steel, carbon steel, and stainless steel. Strong blueprint reading skills, including the ability to review and interpret welding symbols, part numbers, tolerances, and weld placement details. Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure in both fractions and decimals. Mechanical aptitude with experience in fabrication and assembly work. Experience using grinding tools and related equipment to prepare and finish welds. Ability to work independently and complete work to print requirements without constant supervision. Comfort working in a fast-paced, quota-driven manufacturing environment. Commitment to maintaining quality, safety, and cleanliness in the work area. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carbondale, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
