This is a permanent opportunity for a patient, detail-oriented tradesperson ready to master a highly specialized process in a clean, well-run shop environment. The right candidate will work alongside experienced personnel and receive hands-on mentorship from day one. Must be willing to complete and pass an ASME Section IX weld test as a condition of placement.

Overview:

Roll cut bars into rings and ring segments using specialized press and forming equipment. Perform full penetration GMAW (MIG) welds in the 1F flat position on stainless steel and nickel alloy materials. Lay out bars per shop orders and drawings; cut, grind, and prepare weld joint bevels before welding begins. Align, block, and clamp pieces properly and select the right weld wire, amps, and settings for each job. Grind root passes, clean welds continuously, and finish weld joints smooth and flush to a rectangular cross section. Perform additional weld tests as required by quality assurance. Check dimensions of finished pieces using micrometers, tape measures, scales, and ID radius templates. Flatten, size, and resize material to customer specifications; trim, cut, bevel, and close as required. Operate forklift and overhead crane to move, load, and unload large bars, rings, and ring segments.

Requirements:

MIG welding experience required. The flat position (1F) work is the primary focus of this role. Experience welding stainless steel or nickel alloys strongly preferred. Comfortable with repetitive, precision-focused work Ability to read shop orders and drawings and work to tight dimensional tolerances. Comfortable using precision measuring tools including micrometers and tape measures. Forklift and overhead crane experience a plus Comfortable working in an active shop environment with exposure to heat, welder flash, dust, and odor.
